Vampire Thursday

My Friend Amy has declared this Vampire Thursday! How did she know that vampires are my favorite topic and often a subject of my short stories and novels. . . at least since I started watching Blood Ties and Moonlight, which have sadly come to an end.

Moonlight is coming out on DVD in January 2009, and you can be sure that it is on the top of my list. Want to see why? Here's a couple of yummy photos of the lead Vamp--Alex O'Loughlin, who portrays Mick St. John, a private investigator.

This is a behind the scenes photo I found of Alex O'Loughlin online. He's a hot Aussie! I do have another image from the show where he is vamped out. Yeah, you have to love a hot looking vampire.

Ok, so why are all the vampires on these television shows so hot? I guess when you are turned you are no longer ugly or average. Things certainly improve when you become a vampire.

As for my other vampire television show, Blood Ties, which is based upon a vampire series by Tanya Huff, the DVD release date is unknown. I hope the powers that be will release this other show as well. I do have a few images to share with you. Check out the lead vamp--Kyle Schmid, who portrays Henry Fitzroy, the bastard son of Henry VIII. Vicki Nelson, Christina Cox, is a private investigator with a degenerative eye disease, and Henry Fitzroy is a graphic novelist at least in the present day.

Have you had enough of my vampire television shows yet? I could go on and on...Another of my favorites is Forever Knight, with a lead vampire cop, Nick Knight, who only worked the graveyard shift and fell in love with the coroner.

Check out the video from the show.

I hope you enjoyed my vampire post today; I figured that many other bloggers would be talking books. One of my favorite vampire shows is based on a set of books, that counts right?! Have a great Halloween everyone!

Don't forget:

1 copy of Black Flies by Shannon Burke; Deadline is Nov. 5--check out my review.

2 copies (one for a U.S./Canada and one for an international winner) of Life After Genius by M. Ann Jacoby; Deadline is Nov. 5, check out the review and interview in the contest link.

2 copies (one for U.S./Canada and one for an international winner) of Lydia Bennet's Story by Jane Odiwe, check out the post for the contest and a guest post from Jane Odiwe tomorrow, Oct. 31; Happy Halloween. Deadline for that contest is Nov. 7.

I missed Blood ties, I hope it comes out on DVD!!! I loved Moonlight thanks for the release date.
Is Blood Ties based on a book? I must read it.

Yeah I thought Mick St. John was yummy but I watched Moonlight because of Josef. I love Jason Dohring! As much as I loved and miss Moonlight, I love and miss Buffy more. Spike, *sigh*

Sigh, I miss Moonlight too. I've never seen Blood Ties, but I used to watch Forever Knight every day.

Got to love smokin' hot vampires! Well, I guess they would truly be smoking if they got caught in the daylight, ha, ha.

I love Forever Knight and was a huge fan of the show when it was on t.v. Do you remember the short-lived show, Dracula: The Series? I watched this too. And the remake of Dark Shadows. That was a great time for vampires on t.v.!

P.S. Nice picture of Alex O'Loughlin on the beach. He can bite my neck anytime!

G'day

my name is jake nicholson and i just discovered your blog.

i am currently completing my final year of high school, and in that i am completing my english extension 2 major work.

i was wondering if you may offer assistance or maybe even an opinion, which would be awesome;

my chosen subject is:

Vampires: literary representations and symbols of human development and liberation

in this i will be closely studying the change in vampire literature, and how the vampire ideal differs within victorian, contemporary and neo-vampiric fiction, incorporating the anti-vampire phenomena i.e. vampire hunters as a rejection and sort of sick embrace of the genre and how this all represents a changing human race and with such a marked change in literature.

many thanks in advance;

Jake

Amy: Blood Ties better come out on DVD! It is based on a series of books by Tanya Huff (Blood Price, Blood Pact, etc.)

Janel: Some would be real hot in the sunlight! I miss moonlight a great deal, just when the dialogue was getting great!

Ladytink: Mick St. John was so yummy, so was Josef.

Jeannie: I loved Forever Knight! My dad would let me stay up to watch it. It came on at 11pm, it was the only show he let me stay up that late for. I loved the Dark Shadows remake and The Dracula series. I thought I was the only one who remembered these shows. P.S. Alex is a bit busy right now, but I'll let him know he can come over your house next! (tee hee)

Jake: Thanks for stopping by the blog. I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'll email you a bit later.

J.Kaye: True Blood is something I will have to check out on DVD, we can't afford HBO! LOL

Marvin: Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad that you enjoyed the post about vamps.

Serena ~ I don't have HBO either. I watch the show online. A new episode airs each Monday for free.

J.Kaye: You just made my day!

I thought, oh, finally, a decent vamp show again when they aired Moonlight, and then they took it away. arrgh! What was that other show that was good and he turns her at the end before they cut the series?

I was so sad when Moonlight didn't come back. That was such an awesome show. I don't think there's much here now in the way of vampire shows which makes me very sad.

I cannot wait until January for the DVD of moonlight. I had hoped the show would be picked up by another network, but no such luck, despite all my campaign efforts.

True Blood is the only vamp show I know of, but I haven't been watching because it is on HBO...but as J Kaye has noted...it is online!

I loved moonlight...as for the vamp show where he turned the woman at the end...the name escapes me at the moment...I will have to check.

I am a huge Buffy/Angel fan. I've never watched any of the others mentioned.

Serena, have you read the Darkfever series by Karen Marie Moning? J. Kaye turned me on to it and I'm just listening to book one but it's EXCELLENT.

Actually, instead of vampires, there are faes, but ya know, same thing kind of sort of.

If you can track down an audio book it might be a good one for your morning commute!

I wonder if that is on audio book. I have an audio book post for tomorrow...another Chris Moore.

Alex can bite my neck anytime, too. :) I watched Moonlight a couple times with you, never saw Blood Ties, and I remember you making me watch Forever Knight years ago. I enjoy a good vampire movie, book, etc., but don't actively seek them out. Although if becoming a vampire would make me hot and surround me with hot men...that's not such a bad idea. LOL
