Mailbox Monday #18
Welcome to another edition of Mailbox Monday, sponsored by Marcia of The Printed Page.
Here's what made it to my mailbox or should I say bookshelves this week:
1. The Traitor's Wife by Susan Higginbotham sent by Paul Samuelson at Sourcebooks for a blog tour in April.
2. To My Senses by Alexandra Weis, which I won over at Diary of an Eccentric.
3. National Security Mom by Gina M. Bennett, which I won at Bookroom Reviews.
4. The Four Corners of the Sky by Michael Malone sent by Danielle Jackson at Sourcebooks for a blog tour in May.
5. Signora da Vinci by Robin Maxwell, which I won at My Friend Amy.
6. How to Read Novels Like a Professor by Thomas Foster I bought this paperback at Politics and Prose in Washington, D.C., over the weekend, which I took my brother and my friend, Terrie, to. It was fun trekking the eight blocks or so in the freezing wind from Van Ness Metro station to the bookstore. I'll have more to share on that subject, later.
7. A Pilot's Journey by George Norfleet, which I bought at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center and is about WWII Tuskegee Airmen. The book is signed by the author and the main airman in the memoir, Curtis Christopher Robinson. They were both on hand to sign and chat with visitors at the museum.
8. Training the Best by Dorothy M. Poole, which I also bought at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center and is about WWII Tuskegee Airmen and Charles Flowers, who helped train them. This book is signed by Charles as well.

Oh good, I'm glad you got the book! ANother winner who lives like 30 minutes away from me, still hasn't received hers!
You got some good ones, this week, enjoy!
Amy: I was surprised to get it so quickly. Thanks again!
You had a great week. Happy Reading!
Bermuda: Thanks for stopping by the mailbox
Eight books in one week?!?! And from so many varied sources, wow! It must have been fun to meet the authors at the museum ... and Poetry and Prose, well, it's a stop for me the next time we're in the DC area!
Enjoy.
Dawn: Yeah, I was surprised, but it was bound to happen since I had only a few in the past couple of weeks.
Politics and Prose is best kept for trips in the summer or spring months, not winter, unless you want to take the bus from Van Ness. i should have a nice little write up of the place for you.
The cover of The Traitor's Wife certainly got my attention. The jewelry designer in me noticed the earring right away!
happy reading serena! curious to hear your thoughts on The Traitor's Wife, i'll be reading that one too.

Anna: too bad you were sick...you missed out on meeting the actual WWII vets! it was great listening to them...the museum had a bunch of activities going on that day...for kids too--crafty projects.
Darn this cold! Sounds like you had a great time. I would've enjoyed myself I'm sure.

Diary of an Eccentric
Anna: You would have loved it!
Great list of books! I love visiting places around DC! I've only been there twice though. Last time we went to the Udvar-Hazy center and it was great. Totally jealous of the trip to the museum and the signed books!
Alyce: I didn't even know that the authors or subjects of the books would be there! It was great!
At one of my book groups someone brought their copy of How To Read Novels Like a Professor and it was really fun. We applied one chapter to the book we were reading and it was really interesting to see how that worked out.
Anyway you got some great books here and some I want to just a little bit jealous :)
The Weis and Malone books look good to me. And I have to read the Foster book. Sounds like you had fun acquiring some of these. A nice variety too. Happy reading.
Iliana: that's great to know. the book looked like fun.
sandra: I had a great time getting these books
Oh I'm jealous. YOu got The Four Corners of the Sky too. I was sick and missed out. I'm anxious to see what everyone will think of it. You got some good pick there!
Dar: Sorry to hear you missed out on four corners...He will be in d.c. at the end of may...I may pop into the bookstore to see him.
Wow, great books! You have a nice variety this week. Enjoy!
