7 Anecdotes About Reader-Me

I snagged this wonderful Meme from The Boston Bibliophile; read her post here.

1. I often bite off more than I can read when I accept review copies, but I am getting better and I will be catching up on these over the summer.

2. I am happiest reading new-to-me contemporary poets, who should definitely receive more publicity than they receive.

3. I love to browse bookstores, mostly chains near me. I can spend hours looking in the poetry section, mulling over which volumes to buy. That's in addition to the hours I've spent at the front of the store with the best sellers and the new fiction.

4. I remember many of the books I've read from high school until now, though on many occasions the title will escape me.

5. I love using those post-it tabs for passages I plan to use in my reviews, and I always end up with way more of them sticking out of the book than I planned on, which makes choosing the passages I do use all the more difficult.

6. I have a ton of bookmarks, most of them free, and they are usually in one book or another on my selves, in the review piles, or in books that I love and reread passages of after the book spends several dormant years on the shelf.

7. I love to read, but sometimes my reading is interrupted and it makes me irritated. My hubby hasn't quite learned to steer clear if I'm reading, and then he gets a tongue lashing when he interrupts. I still love him anyway.

Tell me 7 things about you as a reader.

I just bought these things called book darts. They are way easier (and prettier) than post its because you can mark the specific passage. Love them!

These types of memes are great. I love hearing about my fellow bloggers! I have a thing for bookmarks. I make them, I collect them, I like to buy ones that almost always get comments from others. I will have to look into these book darts -

Ha! Enjoyed this. I can just picture you snapping at DH when he has the uncouth insensitive audacity to interrupt you whilst deeply engaged in a good read! :)

I also can remember stories from books I've read long ago but for the life me cannot remember the book title or author's name. Which sucks cuz I'd like to re-read them sometimes. :(

I can really relate to number 7!

I've been told I give people evil looks when they interrupt my reading. I don't do it intentionally, but whatever works! LoL.

This is a really fun meme! I might steal this for my lazy Saturday morning post.

Lenore: I will have to check out these book darts....

Blodeuedd: I love bookmarks, but sometimes I use old receipts and other scraps I find available.

Sandy: Wow, you are talented...making your own bookmarks...that is cool.

Gautami: I will spread the word about your new blog...and I stuck it in the google reader already.

Marvin: Seems we have the same issue...loving certain books or stories and failing to remember their titles.

Bermudaonion: LOL

Peyton: please so borrow it and post it...I'd love to read it.

I'm going to have to do this one I think - I enjoyed reading your thoughts on your reading life. I love bookmarks, too, though I'm not crafty enough to make my own. :) I use bookmarks that I've printed free online onto card stock, and then I write the page numbers of passages I want to remember or new words I've learned on the back of the bookmark.

I agree with you on 2! Poetry seems to get no exposure at all these days. I'm glad there are bloggers like you making a difference!

This is great. I'm with you on biting off more than I can chew but I'll be changing that over the summer. I want to step back just a bit. lol-I shoot dirty looks at people, including the dog, for interrupting my reading but it doesn't always seem to get me anywhere.

CarrieK: That's a good idea...writing the page numbers on the back...sounds good.

Nymeth: I hope I am making a difference at least in the poetry aspect of book blogging.

Dar: I'm taking some time off in July and August to catch up on some reading I meant to do earlier.

I enjoyed reading these. With a kid, you can bet there are tons of interruptions in my house when I'm reading. That's why most of my reading is done on the train.

I enjoyed reading this list. I, too, love to browse in bookstores and can be there for hours. It's just heavenly. And I understand about biting off more than you can chew with review books. I have stopped accepting them for a short while because I have 6 in my pile right now, not to mention all the ones I need to read for challenges (talking about biting off too much).
