Birthday Fun...

I'm sure you've been wondering what I did on my birthday.

On Saturday, Anna, her hubby, and The Girl came by to spend some time with me and celebrate my birthday early. We went over to the Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard, which I am sure incredibly bored Anna out of her mind. The winery tour was a bit lame, but I've already been on tours of wineries before. Poor The Girl, she was so antsy and the tour guide/owner took his sweet old time and droned on a bit too long.

Hubby and I got to taste 4 different wines, and I bought a couple of bottles.

Finally, we headed back to the apartment to eat Chinese food and Anna's famous meatballs!

Then we had cake. Check out my hubby's glorious work--chocolate cake (my favorite) with cheesecake (my other favorite) topped with strawberries. Check out these shots:

Birthday Cake

I took my actual birthday on Monday off from work and spent it at home reading books and blogs, among other relaxing pursuits. Watching Jane Austen movies, etc. I want to thank all of you who stopped by to wish me a happy birthday. It made me smile.

What would you do on your birthday?

Belated happy birthday wishes! I almost always take the day off from work on my birthday too.

And your favorite cakes are mine too - I love the way your husband put them together. I hope it tasted as good as it looks!

Happy birthday! What an awesome cake! As for me? I would love to have a big party and make my own cake. Maybe a cheesecake! But definitely something with chocolate. Yours looks incredible!

I can't think of a better way to spend your birthday than reading and relaxing. Your hubby did a great job on the cake!

That cake looks beyond yummy! Definitely my favorites too.

I like going out to dinner with my family on my birthday and maybe getting ice cream for dessert. Nothing fancy.

I wasn't bored. Just hot and not into wine, but it doesn't mean I didn't have fun. The cake was delish. Too bad I was too full of Chinese food.

On my birthday, I'd like to lie in bed all day and read. Not lift a finger at all except to turn the pages.

Happy belated birthday, Serena! I didn't realize that is why you took the day off.

I don't think I can top your hubby's fantastic cake, but I do make some mean cheesecake. That is my specialty! Anyhow, please do let your hubby know that I think his cake looked fantastic!

My birthday is coming very soon. I'll be celebrating it on two days. This Sunday we are going to see a ball game. On my actual birthday, we're going to my favorite all you can eat Japanese restaurant. It's free on birthdays- how can I pass that up??

Again, happy belated b-day. Sounds like you had a very nice time. :D

Luanne: lol you're more than welcome to come eat cake.

Jeannie: thanks for stopping by and inflating the hubby's ego some more about his wonderful cake. You guys are too kind. Have a great time on your birthday! Happy Birthday!

In my wildest dreams, I would have a Napa rampage! As in a limo driver, and my best friends with me, winery hopping. Ending with a wonderful dinner. Hey that cake looks great! At first I thought it was Boston Cream Cake, then the icing came, and it got even better. Yum!

Happy belated birthday! The cake looks very yummy! I like chocolate cake the best. My favorite cake would be German chocolate cake with ganache used instead of the chocolate frosting that they usually have around the edges.

Glad you had a great birthday! The cake looks awesome combining my two faves-chocolate and cheesecake. It can't get any better than that. I like to spend my birthdays now just lazing around and reading in the sun.

Sounds like a perfect birthday!

I'm SO impressed with your husband's cake ... J makes dinner on the weekends (esp during grilling season), but I can't remember the last time he baked a treat (hmmm, maybe I should leave this post as my homepage when the browser starts ... big hint!)
