Let it Snow!

Here in D.C. the weather forecasters were correct and we did get a ton of snow.  I have a feeling the city will be shut down for days.  I wanted to share some photos of Charlee in his new hoodie, since he's losing fur in his old age, and his romp in the snow.

Before we headed out.

Trudging through the snow.

Running in circles.

Having too much fun to go inside.

How'd you spend your day?

Oh, my little Chuckie is so cute!! At least he had fun in the snow.

All I did was shovel about 80 bazillion times and freeze my butt off and peel snow covered layers off The Girl, who was using a little plastic shovel to pile snow into an even bigger pile so she could jump into it. And she made snow angels, sinking about 5 inches into the snow as she did so, and then she dumped a whole pile of snow on her head.

Aww, I wish we got snow instead of a ton of rain. Yesterday I went up to Williamsburg where it did snow, so I did get to see some :D

Looks like fun!

Our little Milou would never have stood for that hoodie, but of course, she wouldn't have gone out in the snow either. All we got out of the big storm was rain.

Anna: The Girl is hilarious. I love the idea of sinking into the snow about 5 inches.

She: Rain would have been preferable to me.

Bermudaonion: It was a trying time getting the hoodie on Charlee, but we wrestled it on. He forgot all about it when he saw the snow! :)

Charlee looks adorable. Does he have a snuggie too? LOL

We are waiting for our foot of snow here too.

Wow, look at all that snow! Charlee looks so adorable. :-)

My dad was uneventful. My husband just got home from the dentist's. Six hours. Argh. He's in a lot of pain.

These pics are too cute!

How did I spend my day? Well, it was 70 degrees here in sunny California so I opened up all the windows and did about 8 loads of laundry. Seriously.

I also finished When She Flew (really enjoyed it) and I am about to cook dinner. After that, it's me and Moby Dick.

Oh wow you have so much snow. We only have a few inches which is weird for here, we usually have heaps! -40c isn't so fun without snow :(

I spent my day with my twin toddlers who are now 16mo and so very active. Was fun :)

I, too, am most admiring how you got Charlee in the hoodie! But where are his little booties?!!!

Lezlie: We couldn't resist the hoodie.

Diane: No snuggie for charlee. Good luck with the snow.

Literary Feline: six hours at the dentist. Crazy.

Ti: I'm jealous! I wish it were that warm here. Have fun with moby dick.

Bella: It's really weird since DC rarely gets that much snow.

rhapsody: believe it or not, Charlee hates boodies worse than sweaters and hoodies.

I'm stranded in the house too...and starting to go stir-crazy! Over 2 feet here in Manassas!

Love the hoodie, even if Charlee doesn't.

And I wore flip-flops all day, since I went to get a pedicure. Sorry, but you did ask.

We've been watching your turmoil from afar. We had the same front come through, but brought us a butt-load of rain, and some really cold weather for us (low 40's tonight!). I say snuggle up, drink some hot cocoa and read a book!

It looks like Charlee had a grand time today!

It snowed a little in Ohio. I spent most of my day inside working on wrapping presents and creating an ipod playlist for my dad.

Charlee is so cute in the hoodie! (and also out of it, I'm sure).

The whole Northern Italy under a snow storm! This is going to be the coldest weekend of the year! Well, we got about 5 cm total, but that's enough to broadcast excited journalists from all the main cities showing how much snow every place got. They love to exaggerate, of course - but it's also true we don't get -5°C often here, thanks heavens.

I spent the morning shoveling snow (grr, my back aches like hell now - I must be turning old, too), and the afternoon baking cakes w/mum (today Dec 20 is my dad's birthday).

Our cat saw the snow, got curious, smelled it, had his recognition tour around the house, then got cold and ran back inside. He spent practically all day sleeping in the armchair (how jealous I was, lol).

I'm in VA. We've really been enjoying the snow, too! It's so beautiful. My cats had totally opposite reactions- the older one took a short foray along a path we had shoveled to the car and then came right back in, grumpy but unwilling to go outside again. The kitten (on a leash, believe it or not) immediately plowed her way through untrodden snow, it looked like she was swimming! She just kept going and going- I had to pick her up to bring inside and now she whines at the door, wanting to go out there again. Crazy kitty!

Charlee is adorable! I have to put a coat on one of my dogs as well. Both my dogs are pretty small, so they have trouble outside if there is a lot of snow.

Ooh, boy, I don't miss that mess at all! Take care and don't overdue the shovelling. It's chilly here in FL, 46 degrees this morning. That's too cold for us old folks.

Amanda: Stranded in the house isn't bad when you have books to read!

Softdrink: I'm jealous. I love warmer weather.

Alessandra: Sounds like you are having as much "fun" as we are in d.c. Cats are funny. I had one that loved to go into snow. He just never wanted to come back in.

Jeane: That's funny that the cat enjoyed the snow. swimming...that must have been a sight!

Lola: I don't think it would matter what size charlee is...he just loves the stuff.

Kaye: I'm jealous. I'd like some warmer weather now. Snow loses its luster for me real quick.

Oh Charlee is just so cute! I love his little coat, he looks toasty! :)

Serena said...

He needs to be toasty since he likes to dive deep into snow banks.

Adorable! Absolutely adorable! My husband was in the DC area last week for business and was feeling pretty fortunate to have missed the snow (he likes snow, but not that much, esp. when traveling for business). He might be going back a couple of times next year (in the spring and summer) and I'll probably get to go with him on one of the trips. I'm so excited because I haven't been to DC in three years and I love it!

I hope you guys are keeping warm and enjoying the snow! Is it sticking around, or melted off yet?

Serena said...

Alyce: I'm glad that you enjoyed the shots of Charlee and our snow. I'm sure your husband was happy to have missed it. If you do come to d.c., let me know, we could arrange a blogger meetup if you want!

Charlie is adorable in his hoodie! Looks like you are taking advantage of the snow. I lived in Arlington in 95-96 when there was a huge snowstorm. It was so much fun :)

Lol. Charlee is SO cute in his hoodie. Very fashionable.

I wish it would snow here. It's 65 degrees!

I would love to meet up with DC bloggers, Serena! :) I will just have to see how much time we will have when we're there. I think that we might only spend one day in DC and then take the train up to New York City because neither of us has ever been there. Once we get our travel plans together I will figure out if we have time for something like a lunch with fellow book bloggers. I would just love to do something like that.

Alyce: Whatever time you have, I'm sure some of us can work it out!
