April 10, 2010, at 8 AM EST is the start of Dewey's 24-hour read-a-thon!
I'm not sure how much of the 24-hour period I will be reading, but I did sign up to Cheer this year for at least an hour. I figure that would give me a much needed break from reading. It could end up being more than that, but I only wanted to commit to 1 hour since I've never done it before.
What books do I plan to read?
Poetry....lots of poetry! Why? Because it's National Poetry Month!
1. Stroke by Sidney Wade
2. The Wrong Miracle by Liz Gallagher
3. Your Ten Favorite Words by Reb Livingston
4. The Guilt Gene by Diana Raab
5. The Niagara River by Kay Ryan
6. Questions of Fire by Gregg Mosson
And maybe these books:
1. Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers
2. The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
3. Even the Dogs by Jon McGregor
I hope you will enjoy the inaugural National Poetry Month Blog Tour this year in the midst of your read-a-thoning!
What do you plan on reading? Will you be cheering? How do you breakdown your time?

I hope you have fun!
I think my daughter and I are going to participate, at least for some of the time. This will be our first read-a-thon, so we are excited!
I am still thinking it through, but i will probably end up participating for a not-so-long amount of time. More like 4h. Which I think is enough for the first time :)
I'm participating and also paticipating in the Clear your Clutter Readathon from The Neverending Bookshelf which takes place the whole week before the 24-hour one and overlaps a bit.
I am participating, both as a reader and cheerleader (although I've only committed to a minimum of 4 hours of cheerleading).
Why didn't I think of reading poetry in past read-a-thons?! Now I think I'll mix up some poetry along with other reading!
And, I'm looking forward to being part of your National Poetry Month Blog Tour :-) !
I hope you're still planning on coming to our place for some of the read-a-thon! I don't know how much we'll be reading, but you know The Girl and I will at least try our best. I'll have to gather some books and write up a post soon.

I will be headed to Anna's house again this year, though not sure what time. I hope to get to the library sale in the morning...because naturally it has to be on that same day!
I hope you all will be participating as well.
I love the Read-a-thon but have missed out on it a couple of times. Don't know if I'll be able to participate this time around either but we'll see. I love how you are planning to read lots of poetry!
I'm sorry I didn't sign up for your Poetry Month blog tour but I've been a bit out of it lately and just slowly coming back to my blog. I'll be looking forward to the tour though. Yay.
I'm participating but have yet to officially sign up. I will definitely check into the poetry events!
