OK, here it is. Today's prompt was to write about an origin, whether its the origin of a word, an idea, a place, or anything. This is my rough draft:
Aging
Swirls in the primordial soup
Scooped up by my metal spoon
Wrap around the handle
Climb up my fingers
Bore into my skin
Entwine my joints.
Rigid
Calcified bone
Beneath gathered skin
Weathered like brown leather.
It started lucid
Like a sober man entering the bar after work,
But as the years passed,
Flexibility stretched to capacity
An elastic band that no longer holds,
But folds in on itself.
What did you write today?

Wow! I'm very impressed with your writing. Thanks for sharing with us.
Excellent! I enjoyed it, thanks for sharing.
There will be more as the weeks go on. I really am enjoying this challenge and I hope to have a ton of rough drafts to work with.
Thanks for the compliments, ladies.
I really liked the first stanza in particular - you can just see this happening. You've used a lot of action words and those really work to set a tone.
Can't wait to see more!
Iliana: Thanks for checking out this rough draft. I can't wait to get started on prompt #2 for today!
I have to try this one. It's been a while since I've written any poetry. Even the haiku well has run dry, and I can usually come up with those in a blink of an eye!
Kitten: I love cinquain and haiku poetry...those are the forms i adore...but I have a lot more free verse under my belt. I say give it a try and let me know if you post it.
Wow! This had some great imagery in it. I really like what you did with this prompt. Great job.
You did create a vivid picture, here. Good job!
Jenners and Nbbaker: I think you both should join in the fun. I'm glad you are enjoying the poems...even if they are really rough.
Great rough draft. I wonder what it will be like when you are done. To answer your question, I haven't written anything not tied to work. :(

I hope I get back to it to revise it...but for now and the rest of the month, it will be rough!
