Mailbox Monday #42

Welcome to another Mailbox Monday, sponsored by Marcia at The Printed Page. We've got books. . . yes, more books, this week. Ready for a photo of the beauties?

TBR Growing

From the bottom, up:

1. The Last Dickens by Matthew Pearl for a TLC Book Tours on October 22.

2. The Walking People by Mary Beth Keane, which I won from Peeking Between the Pages.

3. Picking Bones from Ash by Marie Mutsuki Mockett from the Amazon Vine Program.

4. The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry for a TLC Book Tours on August 31.

5. Skylight Confessions by Alice Hoffman, which I snagged from our office kitchen. Some of us drop books in the kitchen to give away as freebies, and I got two this week and gave a third to Anna at Diary of an Eccentric. I haven't read Alice Hoffman yet. Can you believe it?

6. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, which is also from the office kitchen.

7. FU, Penguin by Matthew Gasteier, which came a s a surprise from Random House.

What did you get in your mailbox? Have you read any of these, what are your thoughts? Do you like Alice Hoffman? What books of hers have you read?

Uh huh! So I'm NOT the only one who has yet to read TTW! I am hoping I can get to that soon, before I am drawn to see the movie! Nice stash!

Oops...forgot to add my kitchen book to the list. It totally slipped my mind. Maybe I'll add it next week.

Can't wait to borrow The Time Traveler's Wife.

Happy reading!

Loved the Time Traveller's Wife! And I do like Alice Hoffman - I adored The Ice Queen and Green Angel. Practical Magic I wasn't so crazy about, but I have a few more of hers on my tbr pile.

PS: A little bird was saying it's your birthday...happy birthday!!! :D

Hmmmm, FU Penguin? I'm not too sure about that one!! Maybe he's a distant relative of Felix Unger.

Anyway, you got some great books. I'm totally lusting over the Lace Reader.

Oh, yeah, btw, HAVE A REALLY HAPPY B'DaY! I think that is the local rumor anyway. Lol.

What a lovely looking stack. The only Alice Hoffman I've read is the one that was an Oprah pick many years ago. Maybe it's time to give her another look? I'll wait for your review.

Nice list. I want to read The Walking People at some point. Enjoy!

Have you looked at F U Penguin? It really does look like a good distraction when you're on the toilet, wouldn't you agree? That is the first thing that came to mind and I honestly don't spend a lot of time in there, but it was a funny thought.
Matthew Pearl is on my list to acquire someday. And the trailer for the Time traveler's wife movie looks awesome; and now I haven't read the book.

Oh it looks like you received a nice selection of books this week, I hope you enjoy them! :)

I also want to read The Time Travelers Wife before I see the movie, which probably means I'll have to wait for the dvd. ;)

I'm late on the birthday wishes, too, but I have a valid excuse - I was out of town! Happy Birthday! I'll probably be the last person to read The Time Traveler's Wife.

Serena said...

Bermudaonion: I haven't read it yet either. I'm hoping to before I see the movie...but who knows. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
